Sex Offender Reports Move To Newburgh

A registered sex offender convicted of sexually abusing two girls unable to consent has reported a move into Orange County.

The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Orange County residents regarding the residency of 34-year-old Derrick Goodman, who has moved to a residence on Broadway in Newburgh.

The Division of Criminal Justice Services has assigned Goodman as a Level 2 threat, which means he is at "moderate risk of a repeat offense."

According to the Division of Criminal Justice Services, Goodman had sexual contact with a 14-year-old and 12-year-old girl in May 2014. He was convicted of first-degree sexual abuse with a person incapable of consenting and is physically helpless and first-degree sexual abuse with a victim less than 13-years-old later that year. Goodman was sentenced to a term of 10 years probation and time served in a local jail. He is now under the jurisdiction of the Newburgh City Police Department.
